Down the Ashtanga Rabbit Hole... A Collection of Ashtanga Primary Series Themed Practises ~

The Standing Sequence.

A lead class focused predominantly on the standing sequence of the Ashtanga Primary Series with a couple of additional seated poses and some of closing sequence as well.

Strength Drills

Not specifically an Ashtanga based practise but certainly useful exercises for building up strength in our shoulders and our core which we need for a lot of our Primary series postures, Navasana, Bhujapidasana, Uttana Padasana, Sirsasana just to name but a few!

The Janusirsasana Family

The first of the β€˜Deep Dive’ recordings focused on the postures of the Primary Series. This video we are exploring the Janusirsasana Family A, B & C

Head Standing

Again not a specifically Ashtanga based practise although Headstand is a part of our closing sequence. Mukta Hasta Sirsasana A (better known as Tripod Headstand) features in Second Series where as Sirsana A & B feature in Primary Series. I add in postures and exercises which I like for building confidence toward a safe, stable feeling pose. Building strength in the shoulders and core is so useful for finding stability in all of our Headstands

*A little note - I would say my hands where actually a bit far back in tripod headstand I could feel it in my pose and very much see it in the video (try to stack wrists under elbows or as close as is possible)*

Baddha Konasana

A short little deep dive on Baddha Konasana, another of our Primary Series Postures Three different variations of the same posture wrapped into roughly ten counts.
